Swalecliffe. 15/09/2024.

A Southern bound Wryneck has stopped off  at Swalecliffe and is currently inhabiting bushes alongside the Brook, just as the last Wryneck at this site did, four years ago. Unlike the last bird, this one is remaining either partially hidden in the bushes or completely hidden in the long grass as it forages about after insects. I did manage a few fairly distant images, of what is a superb looking bird.

Pintail's at Grove Ferry (12/09/24)

A pair of Pintail ducks were on the pool in front of the Feast hide at Grove Ferry today (12th September 2024). For most of the time I watched them, they done what they do best......sleep, but they did eventually wake to swim around for a few minutes before going back to sleep. Always distant, hugging the back edge of the pool so poor images I'me afraid.

Grove Ferry 11/09/2024

A young Black Headed Gull from the Feast hide at Grove Ferry this morning. Cloud rolled in from the west so an early departure for home.

On Guard.

A smart looking Kestrel guarding over the hole at Langdon on a recent visit. It's all I did see, very quiet.

Juvenile Common Terns.

Fresh from the Tern raft at Stodmarsh, juvenile Common Terns.

Smart looking birds in their juvenile plumage.

Great Crested Grebe with Stripey's.

A nice looking Great Crested Grebe at Grove Ferry recently.

Currently resident on the pool in front of the Feast hide with two young "stripey's".

Grove Ferry 26/08/24

Popped into the Marsh hide halfway into a circuit of the Stodmarsh reserve and a bit of luck, the Scarlet Ibis was on the back edge of the pool in front of the hide, asleep, and waking to do a bit of preening. A lot closer than my last sighting on the 21st.

Stodmarsh 21/08/24

A surprise in the shape of a Scarlet Ibis this morning, feeding in amongst 250+ Greylag Geese on the wet marsh to the left of the Marsh hide. Apparently, this bird was in Dorset last week and is making good use of its new found freedom.
